Institute of Technical Acoustics, RWTH Aachen University

At the Institute of Technical Acoustics (ITA) we are interested in the physical and technical aspects of sound and in the effects of sound on humans. Physical and technical acoustics is usually regarded as a subtopic of physics or engineering. As acousticians we often face questions about the perception of sound. The field of acoustics is much more diverse than one would expect. This is why the fields of research and the subjects of work of acousticians are diverse as well. In our teaching and research we discuss a large variety of different aspects of acoustics which are frequently found in the daily work of acousticians. One part of the research is noise pollution and the effects of noise pollution on humans and environment.
