Besides versioning directories and files, Apache SubversionTM allows
attaching metadata to each of them. This metadata is referred as properties that consist
of name-value pairs which can be Subversion predefined or user-defined properties. The
best part about these properties is that they are versioned also, just like your files and
directories.
You can operate over properties just as easily as you do with your working copy files.
Transmission of property changes between your working copy and the repository occurs as part of your typical update and
commit operations — you don't have to change your basic workflow to accommodate
them.
